In 2019, Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, Maren Morris embarked on a 60+ date world tour in support of her sophomore record, Girl. With Maren’s career skyrocketing the production design needed to be impressive for her growing fan base and a reflection of Maren’s personal style. Production designer Travis Shirley collaborated with Morris Light & Sound to bring this intricate and sophisticated vision to life.

Small But Mighty

Robe Spiiders were uniquely implemented in a checker board pattern amongst the upstage video wall to create dramatic effect. The fixtures light-weight, low power consumption and size made and this innovative design concept possible.
Shirley felt the GLP Impression X4’s were an obvious choice for the ground supported side light element that brought drama and class to look of the set. Saturated washes and eye-catching beam effects brought contrast and a sense of depth to the multi-level scenic elements.
Special Requests and Tweaks
Maren’s style could be seen in the breath-taking moments created by the custom 36” half-mirror balls the high output of the Clay Paky Mythos. Sparkle and beams exploded from the stage giving the fans something they were sure to remember.
“We were big fans of the analog feel of the show,” notes Maren’s Production Manager, Rob DeCeglio. “The fall design had a scenic backdrop lit by Solaris Flares, building dynamic textures and soft overtone which complemented Maren’s musical diversity from country ballad to pop hits. It took the sharp edges off so it didn’t seem so much like a choreographed pop show.”
